A global energy business

The senior leadership team of the remediation function of a global energy business recognised that, in order to retain and maximise the impact of the valuable expertise within their teams, they would need to become more effective coaches. With the context and purpose clear, the work we did with them was, over a period of months, to define how a skilful coach thinks and acts, practice those skills and then embed them via on-going observation and 1 to 1 coaching interspersed with team sessions to share stories of success and further develop coaching skills.

“Two years ago there was little traction in the idea that service managers could become the engine room for change. Now we have 80 or so managers thinking in this way. This gives us a far better chance of coping with future challenges than just having a dozen directors at the top of the council structure doing so.”
